About Juliette 

As humans we all go through challenges and struggles in life, usually we are remarkably resilient and rebound from these experiences. Yet traumatic or stressful experiences, unhealthy relationships and childhood adversity all leave traces on our minds, bodies and emotions. If you feel that experiences from your past are impacting your happiness and wellbeing today, then you have landed in the right place. 

Hello I’m Juliette, the creator of Dark Horse Therapy. I'm a fully qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist registered with the BABCP. I have over 10 years’ experience working in the NHS which is where I still work as part of a Talking Therapies service. My passion is working with depression, trauma and PTSD and I have completed further specialist training in this field. As well as standard CBT approaches I use Trauma Focused CBT, Narrative Exposure Therapy and mindfulness based approaches.  All of these treatments are evidence based and recommended by NICE guidelines. 

 

​Taking the first steps towards starting therapy can feel frightening and I completely understand this. Yet there are times in all our lives where we feel ready to reach out and face whatever has been holding us back. My approach is both gently encouraging and empowering. I'm always flexible to suit your individual need and preferences for treatment. We can work at your own pace and together explore what it is that has been weighing you down, re-discover your true self and find happiness.

How I can help

Past experiences may have left you feeling anxious, silenced or shameful. You may have developed symptoms such as nightmares, flashbacks or dissociation. Self-limiting beliefs such as never feeling good enough, like you are to blame for what happened or that you are damaged or ‘crazy’ may have become unbearable. This can feel like carrying a weight which is holding you back from living your life to its fullest. 

At Dark Horse Therapy I provide a safe space for you to voice your storey, in your words. 
To help you move away from being a passive victim of your history and move towards reclaiming your narrative as a force for powerful change. My therapeutic approach acknowledges trauma as something which is held in the mind, body and and emotions. The techniques I draw upon will support you to develop awareness of these patterns in a safe supported way.  I often incorporate elements of polyvagal theory, imagery re-scripting and somatic awareness. This will gently support you to process long held emotions and bodily symptoms. 

If you are reading this now this may be the first step you take towards getting to truly know yourself, what you truly value and what patterns hold you back. Most importantly I will support you to courageously move towards an evolving future where you can thrive and find purpose. 
 

Services


I currently offer individual therapy sessions online. Face to face sessions coming soon, please enquire if you are interested in this option. Each session usually lasts for 1 hour, the number of sessions required will vary depending on your individual needs. We begin by exploring what has brought you to therapy and patterns which are holding you back. We also identify your goals and develop a shared therapy plan. 

I offer a free no obligation 20-minute phone or video call. We can discuss the difficulties you are facing and have the opportunity to ask me any questions.

Extended 90 minute session £100
(recommended for several weeks of TF-CBT and Narrative Exposure)
